Okay, so I've made a decision. I'm going to keep my online store,
Fashions4Flirts, open a little while longer. I seeked advice and thought about it over and over again and I'm not ready to give up on it. I am going to make a few changes thought. For starters, the 10% discount I have for first time customers is going out the window. The 10% discount is still in effect, but starting August 1st, I will no longer have the discount code on my home page. The majority of my customers don't even use it. I don't know if they just don't notice the info on the home page about the discount or if they just forget to include it during checkout, but the discount code is not being used to it's full potential. Instead, I will offer a special occasion discount throughout the year or when I'm promoting the store on certain websites.
I am also thinking about featuring at least one item from my best seller's list each week and offering substantial discounts on it. Shipping will still be combined. Orders totaling $1-$100 will still be $8.95 no matter if you buy one item or 10...as long as the total is under $100, you will pay $8.95 to have the order shipped. Of course, there's a little shipping table that will come into play for all orders over $100. I'll try to post a chart of shipping charges soon.
As it is right now, I ship all over the world. That is about to change. Starting August 1st, I will only ship to a physical mailing address in the US within the 48 contiguous states. No more P.O. Boxes, Hawaii, Alaska, or International orders.
Now for the other one...
Fashions4Flirts Ebay Store, I'm still going to offer international shipping. I have been offering free standard U.S. shipping on my Ebay items except for when an item is purchased with the best offer program. I have it stated on the listing that if an item sells via best offer, I will charge shipping and handling and in most cases, I have indicated how much shipping will be. Lately, I have been getting low ratings from my customers regarding shipping and handling charges because a lot of them can't understand the concept. Really with the shipping information clearly stated on the listing, the buyer has no reason to complain. They agreed to it by making the purchase and have no business docking me for it. My overall feedback score is for shipping charges in the last 12 months is 4.8 out of 5. That isn't bad; however, my 30 day feedback score for shipping charges has be so low, the search status for my items have been lowered...meaning that my items will be listed last if a customer were to search for a particular item that I sell.
I've always thought buyers should not have control over where a sellers items are placed, but I'm so much more against it now. I don't think $2.50 for standard shipping is too much to ask. I have a few that have a shipping charge of $6.95, but those come from a dropshipper and I haven't sold a lot of those recently. That brings me to another point, I will most likely not offer anymore dropship items (the higher end items) at my Ebay store. Although I've had so many positive feedback comments on dropship items, I've had 2 that were not so great...both saying the item they received did not look new even though it had a tag. I think it would be best for me to purchase those items up front so I can inspect them before I sell on Ebay. I can't stand an unhappy customer, especially when they shell out a lot of money for something.
So anyway, I am going to try and change all of my listings to auction style (with a low starting bid) rather than a high fixed price so there will be no best offers to worry about. I am no longer going to offer free standard shipping. Shipping charges will be a fixed rate of $2.50 for items under 13 oz for first class shipping and $5.00 for items over 13 oz for priority mail. That should take away some of the confusion...until someone complains that their package only cost $2.37 to ship. The complaints never end and I'm tired of trying to please everyone only to get a crappy score in the end so this is the way it's going to be. I just have to work on not worrying so much over feedback because no matter how much of a caring and competent seller I am, I can not please everyone.
I have changed some of my items to auction style and taken down some of the dropship items already, but I hope to have it all switched over by August 1st. Guess that's it for now. Gotta go get busy on selling some stuff.
